My favorite myth comes from Norse mythology, and says that the reason the sun and the moon move through the sky is because they are being eternally hunted by two wolves, Sköll and Hati. At Ragnarök -- the final battle and end of the world -- they would finally catch and eat the sun and moon, plunging the world into darkness.
